Sr. FP&A Analyst (Strategic Finance Engineer)

The Role You'll Play

Most finance roles ask you to build models. This one asks you to build the future of how finance works - and then use it to run the models. You’ll own long-range forecasting for a multi-billion dollar platform (Mindbody + ClassPass + EGYM) and co-build the internal tools that make that work faster, higher-signal, and more auditable. Your output drives strategic decision making, and capital allocation. 

• Long-range forecast — end-to-end ownership of the 5-year model: architecture, assumptions governance, scenario logic, and the internal tooling that powers it. You manage both the process (milestone sequencing, deliverable quality, cross-functional assumption alignment) and the team (coordinating analysts, unblocking work, ensuring output meets executive standards). Translate model outputs into the strategic narrative that drives capital allocation and board-level decisions.
• Finance tooling — co-engineering role with your manager. Build production tools for forecasting, analysis, and reporting using Claude Code/Cursor. Playlist engineering supports infrastructure needs (database setup, API integration, deployment automation), but core tool design and iteration is yours. Expect to ship new tools and maintain existing ones.
• Contributions to various executive deliverables — monthly business reviews, executive updates, board packages, ELT strategy sessions.
• Strategic ad-hoc work — Capital allocation projects, debt covenants sensitivity analysis, investment-case modeling 

 The Experience You’ll Bring

• 4+ years in FP&A, quantitative finance, management consulting, business analysis - SaaS or tech preferred
• Model design rigor — built complex, multi-layer models (financial, operational, quantitative). Recognize brittleness, apply best practices (modularity, assumption governance, version control). Can articulate when a model is over-engineered vs. under-structured.
• Python fundamentals — Read, write, debug Python without AI assistance. Comfortable with Pandas/Polars, SQL, Git workflows. Can troubleshoot broken code and explain what it does line-by-line.
• AI-assisted tooling (Claude Code, Cursor) — Shipped production tools using Claude Code/Cursor. You use AI to build faster but know when the output is wrong. Demo required: tool with 1000+ lines of code and multiple modules.
• Finance + engineering hybrid — you build the internal tools that power forecasting, scenario planning, and executive reporting. Most finance teams consume software. You create it. 
• We optimize hiring for forecasting muscle and engineering rigor. SaaS business models, Debt covenants, and IPO mechanics are deep topics we'll train you on — important work, just not what determines fit for this role.
