The Role You’ll Play
- As a Software Engineer I, you’ll be a part of a team working to build secure systems for the Playlist ecosystem. You’ll pursue continuous improvement to help Playlist achieve its mission: Powering the world’s fitness and wellness businesses and connecting them with more consumers, more effectively, than anyone else.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and QA to iterate on the design, implementation and deployment of our product.
- Build and maintain backend systems and applications, tightly scoped work with supervision and support.
- Navigating code reviews thoughtfully and constructively contributing to conversations around pull requests.
- Participating in retrospectives as a constructive team member.
- Seek different perspectives and solicit honest feedback.
- Practice engineering best practices (e.g., automated testing, code reviews, proper monitoring).
- Learning one or more technical areas and becoming increasingly comfortable contributing to your team’s codebase.
- Take delight in delighting our users.
- Care about our studio partners and want to help them grow their business
Experience You Bring
- 0-2 years of experience programming and supporting large-scale SaaS products
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, and systems) gained through hands-on experience, coursework, or equivalent training
- Experience building backend services using JavaScript / Node.js and/or TypeScript; Kotlin or Java is a plus
- Experience designing and architecting backend services, with an eye toward scalability and maintainability
- Experience designing and working with microservice architecture
- Experience using monitoring tools such as New Relic or Kibana to troubleshoot and improve service health
- Familiarity with the SDLC, programming design patterns, and Agile methodology
- Ability to review new feature impact across an application, recognize potential risks, and communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally

The goal of Playlist's compensation program is to be transparent, attract potential employees, meet the needs of all current employees, and encourage Team Members to stay with our organization. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
The base salary range for this position in the United States is $75,225 to $100,300. The total compensation package for this position may also include a performance bonus, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans
