The Role You'll Play

  • You’ll help build and evolve the backend systems that power ClassPass, partnering closely with Product, Design, and QA to take ideas from concept to production in a way that’s reliable, scalable, and grounded in real customer needs.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and QA to deliver features from ideation through deployment, iterating based on feedback and outcomes
  • Design and develop backend services and APIs that are robust, maintainable, and easy to work with
  • Promote engineering excellence through automated testing, thoughtful code reviews, and effective monitoring
  • Drive simplicity by reducing unnecessary complexity while maintaining reliability and quality
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and help shape how microservices interact across a growing service-oriented ecosystem
  • Strengthen operational health by identifying risks early and improving observability and resilience over time
  • Lead with curiosity by seeking feedback, learning from diverse perspectives, and mentoring teammates
  • Help foster a collaborative team culture that values autonomy, accountability, and impact

 The Experience You’ll Bring

  • Senior-level experience (8+ years) building and operating backend systems for large-scale SaaS platforms
  • Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, C#, and comfort working in a mixed stack
  • Experience architecting and designing backend services in a microservices environment
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic or Kibana, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating system risks
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, design patterns, and Agile methodologies
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills, with attention to performance and maintainability
  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across roles and working styles
  • Motivation to deliver meaningful solutions, keep learning, and support others’ growth

Technologies you’ll likely be working with:

  • Backend languages: Java, Kotlin, C#, Javascript, React
  • Architecture: microservices, service-to-service integrations
  • APIs: backend services and APIs
  • Data: SQL, relational databases
  • Observability: New Relic, Kibana
  • Engineering practices: automated testing, code reviews, monitoring and alerting

It is the Company’s intent to pay all Team Members competitive wages and salaries that are fair and equitable. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and work location. The goal of Company's compensation program is to be transparent, attract potential employees, meet the needs of all current employees, and encourage Team Members to stay with our organization.

The base salary range for this position in the United States is $151,000 to $200,000. The total compensation package may also include a performance bonus, benefits, and other applicable incentive compensation plans.
