Born Zachary Esters on November 24, 1990, this 17-year old new recording rap artist, Z-FLO, is reppin' Mississippi to the fullest. Originally from Greenville, Mississippi, Z-FLO now resides in Brandon, Mississippi, where he is a junior at Northwest Rankin County High School. Pegged a child prodigy at a very young age, Z-FLO has been writing poetry ever since he was 7 years old, winning numerous poetry competitions and having them nationally published throughout his childhood. His former teachers were amazed at his extensive vocabulary and articulation with using words in his poetry and other writings. It wasn't until age 10, when his mother bought him his first keyboard, that Z-FLO merged his writing skills with his musical talent, listening to music and then playing it by ear. Z-FLO created a big buzz for himself when he wrote and recorded a song for the Mississippi State Bulldogs sports fans entitled, “Sholl Iz” (The Mississippi State Bulldogs version). Mississippi State University is a renowned predominantly white university in Mississippi with an enormous fan base. Little did he know that MSU fans, old and young, would take to this song! He began to get requests on MySpace from all over the U.S. from former and current Mississippi State Alumni asking to purchase the song from him. The Mississippi State Bulldogs’ football team began using “Sholl Iz” as they would run into the stadium at every home game, and afterwards, the basketball team began to play Z-FLO’s song during their home game warm-ups. Z-FLO had a successful autograph signing within 3 weeks of the release of "Sholl' Iz!" at the NorthPark Mall in Jackson, MS, in which a few hundred fans attended, took photos, and received autographed flyers from Z-FLO himself. To date, Z-FLO has been featured in many periodicals and newspapers throughout Mississippi because of the inquiry of others wanting to know more about this lyrically-talented producer/artist. He has also been featured on 3 popular hip hop radio stations, being interviewed live by the DJs, and was featured on two 30-minute interviews on 2 other talk radio stations, where most of his songs were played throughout the live interview. He has had 3 songs in heavy rotation at 4 radio stations and has created his own self-proclaimed record label entitled, “Country Boi Entertainment”. Z-FLO has been invited and performed at major events such as the WJMI 99.7 1st Annual Summer Jam, Bulldog Bash, Cotton District Festival, ‘Stomp da Floor’ Step Competition and was recently asked to open for Snoop Dogg in February 2008, where Z-FLO performed before a “SOLD OUT” crowd for an hour. The crowd was so hype that Z-FLO could barely be heard because they were singing his songs and chanting “Sholl Iz”, a slang terminology he is renowned for using in his music. He almost got pulled off stage by screaming female fans when they reached to touch him! Z-FLO sold a little over 5,000 CDs within 30 days of his debut single, “Sholl Iz” while performing at the Bulldog Bash and by request on MySpace, concurrently for $5/CD. One of his songs, entitled, “Muddy South Tipp” is the name of a dance-craze he and his friends made up that is sweeping throughout the South. Creating a widely-known fan base on MySpace, Z-FLO has had many requests from other inspiring rappers to collaborate with them on their tracks because of the way he “flows”. Many find it hard to believe that he is just a teen with these mad skills. This new sizzling recording artist, slated the "Prince of the Muddy South", has all ages and races boppin' their heads, dancing and chantin’, “Sholl’ Iz”!
