Fornequiem is the musical moniker of composer/producer Steven Jones. From a studio perched on the edge of Canada's northern wilderness comes electronic music inspired by nature and a deep concern and compassion for humanity.

I love music - seem to find solace in it. I have a huge list of composers and musicians who I listen to and admire. I ’ve been influenced by almost every type of music, I’m sure.

I most love music that takes me away, to a different mind-space, and I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you. Please, tell your friends – no big promo budget here – it’s all word of mouth.

I believe in humanity – first and foremost. That is, I believe it is every human being on the planet’s absolute right to have freedom and to be happy. I’m saddened that this is not the case. My first Album, Anarchy, is an expression of this, and a personal recognition of the feelings of people who suffer and have not been properly recognized. I’m outraged at the carnage of fellow human beings in Iraq – nationalities don’t interest me – it is quite possible that as many as 800 000 have died there since this illegal invasion. And then there’s Afghanistan, and the list goes on and on, back through the twentieth century.

So…

I guess I ’d have to say I’m an anarchist of sorts nowadays. There seem to be gaping holes in the truth about the world we live in, and I find myself distrustful of many institutions, including our governments. Seems wars are being fought, human lives being extinguished with my name on them, and I don’t like that. I worry that few seem to be aware of the possibilities that underlie the deceit so in our faces. There are some lights coming on now, through the internet, which is bringing true freedom of speech for the first time.

That’s awesome…

So yeah, I ’m part of the crowd that doesn’t care for the mainstream unless it makes practical sense. Maybe this attitude is reflected in my music and what I choose to do with it – I’m only following my own rules here. That’s my freedom, to share with you.
