Take this in for a moment if you will.
Think of life as a sand castle, the ocean is death, and the tide is time.
In your mind, you are standing on a beach looking at the large sandcastle that is your life. It's morning.
You take in the crisp air through your nostrils filling your lungs to capacity and then exhale through your mouth with a nod to show approval for this moment. The ocean is off in the distance, but not too far away to hear the sound of the waves and surf roll over the beach and get pulled back again into the ocean. your sand castle is tall and strong and you even thouch it and make an expression of being impressed with its structural integrity. It was built well with the right ammount of water and sand and packed tightly to improve stength.
You take a seat and look at the waves come and go not realizing how long you've been sitting there. The tide has come in a little and you haven't even noticed it's slow approach.
Afternoon.
The sun has come out with a vengence so you put a bathing suit on and enjoy the rays for a while. While tanning quite nicely, the sun slowly begines to dry the outside of the sand castle causing parts to become brittle and crack. After tanning, you observed that small parts of the castle have crumbled and the castle had a slight weathered look. No bother you think, the castle is still strong in it's interior. It will be around for a while. The sun is not directly overhead anymore and it seems to be getting cooler as it moves away. The tide comes closer.
Evening.
It is quite chilly out and you add some clothing. A jacket and stocking cap are all that is needed to be comfortable this evening. The sun is down and the night is upon you. Standing next to the weathered castle you notice that the tide had come in nearly touching it. At that moment you have a realization...All day long I hadn't payed much attention to the tide, and now it has crept it's way to the castle. The tide brings the ocean with it. They come in hand in hand. You hold your head in your hand and turn it from side to side as if saying no. You know that this is the very thing that will bring tha castle down.
Finality.
At first the tide gently touches the castle and takes small bits back with it bringing it back to the ocean. But then it takes more and more and more until the castle leans forward as if it were a person falling to one knee with fatigue. Tide is coming in more now. It's all happening fast now, faster than you thought. The castle is being taken away now piece by peice until the castle slumps over a little more, as it to be on all fours now. The tide smacks into it more violently , the ocean ever closer, taking more and more until the castle succumbed to the beating. Face down the castle is a mere shadow of it's former self once magnificent and strong, only now a small lump in the sand. As the tide and the ocean roll over the castle for the final time it has consumed it entirely bringing it into the ocean. The tides of time pull back over the sandcastle of life and back into the ocean of death to to put an end for what once was, and to open a place for a new castle on the beach of life, while the tide is low and the ocean far away.
