My name's Ana and I'm a student at Jordan HS and I live in Watts. But before I moved here, I used to live in Paramount. (Well I LOVE the fifties!! I listen to Elvis songs and other oldies 24/7!) Non-residents of Watts say that all the people who live here are violent & involved in gangs: that's where I put my foot down and say that not all of them are like that. There are some people here who are highly intelligent, and are not easily fooled or manipulated by bad influences. And, there are those who are dedicated to change their community in a positive and beneficial way. Well, I'm kinda shy, but once you get to know me, I'm pretty cool! I'm not conceited, but sometimes people tell me I can get real bossy or bitchy... I don't know. I probably act like that and I dont even notice it... just kidding! I'm a nice person by the way. And, I like giving advice to people who really need it! And I also love going to protests & rallies because it feels empowering that you and other people stood up for what you believe is right! It's called freedom of speech/expression! Man, I love being part of student organizations, especially when it comes down to student rights!!! It's a shame that not enough people in Jordan aren't doing anything to stand up for themselves & others who don't have a voice. And, there are some who are actually doing something. All of you need to take action like participating in ORGANIZED events like sit downs, walkouts, rallies, etc.... because if you don't take action, then how are people gonna know what you want? It saddens me that our people are not educated about their own culture and history. In history class, we are taught how Columbus "discovered" America, and how the Europeans began to settle here. But what the history book DOESN'T tell you is how they took over other people's land, and all the massacres and injustices done towards the native people also. And, I also ♥ James Dean, vintage cars, Elvis, Blondie, Grease, Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, shopping, laughing, sleeping, caffeine, reading my entire collection of books, and finally, writing short stories about horror, mystery, and suspense during my spare time!!
