Let's see, movie stars included, 1st it was Marty Robbins and the King, and then the Beatles and my 1st album "Rubber Soul" in Jr high, by 17 1/2 years old I was listening to The Byrds, the Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, James Gang, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix Experience, King Crimson, Johnny Winter, Santana, Cream, Doors, Janis Joplin, Procol Harum, Montrose, UFO, Spirit, Crosby Stills, Nash and Young, the Who, Zappa; basically anything underground or from Woodstock and the Fillmore, and more 'local' bands west of Chicago like Head East, One Eyed Jacks, Ilmo Smokehouse, REO Speedwagon, and Cheap Trick. In Peoria at Bradley, my 1st year of college, my 1st concert was the Black Sabbath Paranoid tour, and the best concerts there were Allman Brothers Band, Black Oak Arkansas, Bloodrock, It's a Beautiful Day, Jethro Tull, Lee Michaels, the Marshall Tucker Band, , Mountain, Ten Years After and Uriah Heep; Grand Funk Railroad in Normal at Illinois State; Deep Purple, ZZ Top and Pink Floyd in Chicago; Edgar Winter Group, Rick Derringer and Brownsville Station in Rockford; Chuck Berry and guests in Indianapolis; and REO Speed Wagon and BOC with Wishbone Ash in Clinton IA. The next year and year after that Aerosmith and original Lynyrd Skynrd, Eric Clapton and Savoy Brown in Davenport IA; Jeff Beck and Santana in Dekalb at NIU; Humble Pie with Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton, ELP, Foghat, Styx and Ted Nugent in Macomb at WIU; Pat Travers, BOC and Rush in Springfield; Yes at St Louis and Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna and Moody Blues at U of I in Champaign. How could I forget, KC and the Sunshine Band and Andy Gibb at the state fair before the 80's, when I joined the Navy and my last concert was Steve Perry Project, Heart, Judas Priest, the Scorpions; then ACDC came out with ..for those about to rock! After that I listened to Alice in Chains, Asia, Deftones, Europe, Extreme, Genesis with Phil Collins, LinkinPark, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, POD, the Police and Sting, Rage Against the Machine, Staind, Soundgarden, Van Halen, U2, etc. My favorite concerts since then, all in San Diego, are the Rolling Stones at Petco, Joe Walsh and King's X at 4th and B, then King's X twice at Brick by Brick, Def Leopard and Eddie Money at the Q, Tesla at SDSU Open Air Amphitheatre, ZZ Top and Lynrd Skynrd at Sports Arena, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the Eagles at Coors, Wishbone Ash and Ten Years Later at Humphrey's Lounge, Queensryche at Canes and Humphrey's concerts by the Bay, and Yes, Dream Theatre and James Gang Rides Again at Viejas. My friends bands in San Diego, The Boogiemen, Damaru, Jefferson Jay, Middle Earth Ensemble, Serious Guise, formerly known as Tubby, and Johnny Voodoo, are on my favorite links and I have most of their cd's.
