Introducing Below the Fold
by JeremyR. on April 20, 2009
We’re excited to announce the launch of Below the Fold, a new music feature aimed at highlighting our favorite up-and-coming artists. From indie to hip hop, jazz to electronic (and everything in between), Below the Fold will be the spot on Playlist to discover your next favorite band and to grab some great music for your playlists. Check it out on the homepage next to Playlist News!
Our debut artist is Bat for Lashes, the British singer/songwriter whose sold out European tour and glowing album reviews are beginning to generate some serious buzz here stateside. You can check out her new album, Two Suns in its entirety on the Bat for Lashes profile page. And be sure to leave a comment to let us know what you think!
So what’s in store for Below the Fold? In the coming weeks, we’ll have great new releases from bands like Passion Pit, The Soft Pack, and Phoenix. We’ll even give a nod to some classic albums and staff-favorites that you may have missed from artists such as Dave Brubeck and Sam Cooke. There will be something for everyone and we hope you enjoy it as much as we love putting it together for you. Stay tuned!

All SONY BMG music now on Playlist… and an update on how we work with social networking sites.
by JeremyR. on December 23, 2008
Playlisters,
As we continue to enhance our service we want to use this blog to sustain an ongoing conversation with all of you, solicit your feedback and address any questions you might have. To start today, we have good news to share, and an update on news that is not quite so good.
At Playlist, we are creating an entirely new music experience for our users, and as such, we have been talking with artists, publishers and labels in an effort to work with them and make their full music catalogs available on Playlist.
So, GOOD NEWS: we are excited to tell you about a new agreement with Sony BMG! We are going to make Sony BMG’s entire catalog -- including popular artists like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Bow Wow and iCarly (see the press release) -- available to be part of your playlists. We want to provide the best music quality and experience that we can. We expect to have more updates for you soon.
With the improvements to our site last week, our new search tool means that it’s even easier and faster to find more of the music you love and build playlists while you listen. We’re adding new social features to help you find friends more easily and build friendships on our site. And with our new player, you can drag and drop songs to change your playlist or just hit shuffle to mix it up. You can also access any of your playlists directly from the player itself.
On another front, you may have noticed that some social networks have begun blocking your playlists from loading on their site. We are working hard to get our widgets back up on user profiles across these social networking sites as quickly as possible so our users can continue to share music with their friends. Until then, your playlists are not lost and you can still share them – they remain available here on Playlist.com, where you can continue to search for music, create and play new playlists.
If you have any questions, comments or thoughts for us, please let us know here.

More songs - You can now put up to 200 songs on your playlist. That's more music to share with your friends on your MySpace, Facebook or blog.

We are working on a few bugs
by JeremyR. on September 6, 2008
Hello Project Playlist
We recently upgraded our music playlist system to allow us to build additional features much quicker and provide everyone with a better experience. We are aware of some remaining bugs that the development team and I are working on around the clock to resolve.
Some bugs a few of you are having include:
1. problems deleting or rearranging songs (some users)
2. issues with being logged out while trying to add songs (some users)
3. not all your playlists showing up on the get code page (some users)
4. windows media player option -- we are working on fixing some bugs on this, will return shortly (all users)
Please be patient while we work out these issues. I will continue to post updates here until everything is resolved.
Thanks!

New search coming soon!
by JeremyR. on June 13, 2008
Hello playlisters!
We are almost ready to launch a brand new way to search and playlisting! The Project Playlist team has been hard at work building out the most amazing new search and playlisting system. We will be releasing the beta search to a small number of users over the next several months, then to the entire playlist community shortly after that!
Cool new features:
1. Manage your playlists right on the search page We went ahead and rolled-up the searching and playlisting all on the same page. With the new search, you can listen to your playlists, manage your playlists and add songs to your playlists all on one page.
2. One-click add to playlist Watch the track add directly to your playlist with one-click without leaving the page. No need to go to many different pages to confirm. You will be able to add songs more quickly than before with the new one-click add.
3. Make a quicklist without registering or logging in Don't feel like registering or logging in to just make a quick, short playlist? Not to worry. You can now add up to 5 songs to a quicklist without logging in or registering.
4. Cleaner, faster, cooler front-end Now we are even cooler than before. Wait, you say we couldn't possibly get any cooler and hip? Well, wait to you see how our new search looks.
5. And more! We are finishing up even more cool stuff for the new search that will make playlisting a more fun, easier and enjoyable experience.
Keep checking the news section for updated information as we get closer to the launch date! We will be posting screenshots shortly!
