Formed at the beginning of 2004 after a long period of hard work and isolation Timecut is a three piece band from Modena, Italy; they're currently promoting their second album, a nameless 10 songs composition. The sound orientation is a combination of elaborate and highly expressive vocal lines, heavy guitar riffs, dark bass textures and electronic patterns. The result is a new, deep and powerful sound combined to unusual atmospheres and visionary lyrics, on simple-structured and extremely direct songs. The band story's subtle and articulate: Brought up by farmers on a sad and foggy area that dominates the north of Italy Bait and Joba lived an idyllic existence on the sun-kissed holiday country. But it was not enough for them... Something told them that this was not all there was to live for... Just kidding,,, Half-heard tunes from the car radios of passing sightseers as they sat in the main street of their sleepy villages stirred something inside them. They had been playing together since January 2002, being members of two linked projects preceding Timecut. Before they met, Bait was the singer-guitarist of a five piece emo-core band, Hangin' on a thread. In 2000 H.o.a.t. released the album Draining the swampy lands touring all over their country, also performing in various European festivals with bands such Linea 77, Snapcase, Therapy?, Orchestra Morphine, Reiziger, and One Dimensional Man. The increasing response from supporters and International press allowed them to take part to the Emo diaries n. 6, an American compilation released by Deep Elm Records, with the song “flavour”. Bait, Joba and Alle met in 2001 during a Susan Acid gig (Joba and Alle's band at the time); mainly influenced by punk and industrial scene, Susan Acid had original sonorities and an impressive live performance. Since then Susan Acid and H.o.at. had shared stages together, establishing a good friendship, resulting also in many art and music collaborations. January 2002 saw respective members of the 2 bands joining together under the name Hangin'on a thread (except for Alle, which won't play again with Bait and Joba 'till 2006). This project lasted for a whole year; during this time the band toured Italy and part of Europe; they recorded a four tracks E.p. and a live video. The band then decided to move on a more experimental and extreme direction, re-adopting the name Susan Acid. They released a new album, Miss Anthropy (Joba on recording desk) and a video track for the single Humbledrome; at the end of the recording sessions the group packed up and moved to London, looking for new opportunities and gigs. It's here, in the city, that Bait left Susan Acid and together with Joba gave birth to Timecut. This is a very important time for the new band, since the beginning the two had a productive and creative relationship and an immediate response; they know they found the right harmony, the one that's been missing in all the previous lines-up. 2005 found Timecut recording their first album 'Exeptions'. During this and the following year the band's concentration was focused on getting contacts and gigs. |
