People out east say keep a journal, people overseas say keep an open mind. It's not important who left who, or why you never wrote, some things are better left unknown.

It doesn't matter that it was drifting snow up north, it was summer that weekend, and the way you both laughed you wish you still hear. But morning always comes too soon, and now searching for that wanderlust between your days off circled on the calendar that looks you in the face everyday at the office.

Sure, you tell the story to some, but even though they smile they never believe you. No matter what you say, today or years down the road they'll never understand. And how could they? They didn't smell her perfume, or feel her whisper when the music echoed from that tiny speaker. Nowadays you tell the tale mostly to help you remember. And when they smile that fake smile and look away, it doesn't even matter anymore…

So drop a quarter in the juke box and see what happens. Don't be surprised when someone you've never met buys you a round, smiles and walks out the door. Her name might have been different and she could have been somewhere else, but the songs are for all of us…
