I grew up in a household of expatriates, always being displaced every couple of years or so. For the longest time, I just wanted to stop being in transit; to exchange rootless movement for the sound of settling.
But ever since the breakup with C., my perspectives have shifted dramatically. And I feel like a change of surrounding needs to happen, in the very near future...
This mix is for G.H., L.D., P.D.B., and every other person who helped me recover my wanderlust, and inspired me to devise The Plan for the next five years of my life.
My wandering days aren't over yet. Here's to the Great Escape!

"SIDE A" : MOVE AWAY & SHINE
01 //
It’s like running away
With the wind in my face
It’s like flying
And you and I are open wide
02 //
What does this city have to offer me?
Everyone else thinks it's the bee's knees
What does this city have to offer me?
I just can't see
03 //
Every boy needs a roof and bed and bright, bright light
That he can turn off at night
And fall asleep with the love of his life, oh oh
04 //
Send you off on a big adventure
Xs lead you to the treasure
Whatcha gonna do when you finally find it?
Whatcha gonna do when you finally find it?
05 //
Three thousand miles, that’s how far you’ll go
And you said to me, "Please don’t follow."
06 //
In all this talk of time
Talk is fine
But I don't want to stay around
07 //
Lay down all those instruments of navigation
'Cause we're already lost.
08 //
I'm back with scars to show.
Back with the streets I know
Will never take me anywhere but here.
09 //
One by one, the guests arrive
The guests are coming through
The open-hearted many
The broken-hearted few

"SIDE B" : TRANSPACIFICISM
10 //
We know a place where no planes go
We know a place where no ships go
11 //
I send vibrations
In your direction
From a satellite mind
12 //
And every stranger's face I see
Reminds me that I long to be...
Homeward bound
13 //
I could see across to the park.
And there were friends, they were laughing hard.
They looked just like my home.
With no face, no name, no voice I'd know.
14 //
I am on reprieve
Lacking my joie de vivre
15 //
Watch me fly away
Through the night sky yeah
Now that all you touched
Has finally turned gray
16 //
Sometimes I wonder
If i'm ever gonna make it home again
It's so far and out of sight
17 //
From here to the moon
It's risin' like a discotheque
And now my bags are down and packed for traveling
18 //
And is it getting easy not to care
Despite the many rings around your name?
It isn’t funny and it isn’t fair:
You’ve traveled all this way and it’s the same.
