This playlist has the songs Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morris, Part Of Your World by Disney, shake yer head by eraserheads, I Think I See The Light by Cat Stevens, Mr. Big by To Be With You, and more.

As much as I try to be a hipster, I'm really not. As a wise sage once said, "just keepin' it real, dawg. just keepin' it real".

A few thoughts on the songs themselves:

Brown Eyed Girl: I'm just a sucka for shalalalas and handclaps.

Part of Your World: Transcribed the tape because the album didn't come with lyrics. For years I thought Ariel sang "a pretty walk. a pretty run. a pretty stay up there in the sun".

Shake Yer Head: My classmate claimed to have the number of E. Buendia, which, of course, we called EVERY WEEKEND.

I Think I See The Light: Coz Harold & Maude is <3

To be With You: When I was in third grade, I thought this was the most perfect song in the world. Nelson's Love & Affection was a close second.

8 Days a week: Eleanor Rigby used to be my favorite Beatles song, but really now, who wants to be a downer?

Hold my Hand: When Darius R. sings the words "No comb had touched your hair", I just KNOW he's singing them for me.

Come Sail Away: I love the bizarre turn this song takes. You're like, oh. ITS ABOUT ALIENS AND UFOS?

I'll remember: Brendan Fraser was the hotness in With Honors. And Moira Kelly! Who didn't want to be her, post-Cutting Edge?

Angel of the Morning: Another childhood favorite. How was I to know it was about one night stands?

When I'm thinking about You: One of the prettiest songs, ever.

You're the One that I want: But I still have to say, I HATE ONJ's "makeover" in this movie. What a horrible perm.

I wanna dance with somebody: Pre-crack whitney makes me happy.

Spin the Bottle: In retrospect, a lot of the cultural artifacts of the Gen X era did not age well. Case in point: Reality Bites was, well, how shall we put this? Painfully contrived (and how just annoying was E. Hawke in this movie?), but Julianna Hatfield was and always shall be a cutie pie. Also, this song wins the award for "most startling inclusion of an expletive in a song", ever.

Africa: Perfect for drunken harmonizing.

Stop Whispering: I don't know why nobody knows this song.

Doo Wop That thing: She talked about "miseducation", but really, L Hill is just too cool for school.

Please Please Please let me Get what I want : The best thing about Pretty in Pink.

Summer Breeze: I listen to this during the winter. It makes me feel better, I swear.

Somebody to Love: Can someone please make a choral arrangement of this, STAT?

Always be my Baby: In 6th grade pretended to be all hardcore & into grunge, but I secretly LOVED this song.

If I had a hammer: First grade, daddy, singing in the kitchen

The Goonies: This makes me think of Josh Brolin pedaling that tiny bike. Also, I loved the goonies video game.

Mmmbop: Oh Taylor. I thought you were the coolest little girl in the world.

You Can't Hurry Love: My sisters had a dance routine set to this song and it involved jazz hands. And chairs. Sheer awesomenezz.
