I've ben away for a couple of days, so I might have missed it.
Has there been some kind of announcement or explanation as to why Playlist suddenly decided to boycott half of its userbase?
I'm not talking about the vague explanations like 'its to do with licensing issues'. I'd like to know the ins and outs of why the decision was made and when, if at all, we'll be able to use the service again.
Thanks guys.

i agree, although i now use another site,( which i prefer) it's not as tried and tested as this one, playlist com we just want to know if & when if ever we can hear our music again, I don't really care if i can't upload to social networking sites, but i used to enjoy listening to my playlist whilst doing housework or surfing the web, we aren't all evil little bootlegging shits

This restriction is due to licensing agreements (contracts) currently in place; these agreements will remain in effect for the near future.
We are investigating ways to offer audio again at some point in the future, but at this time have no time line on when/if that will happen.

So does this just affect users in the UK or around the world? I've just logged in and found that my whole playlist is unavailable! This happened once before and I painstakingly went back and re-added all my favourite tracks but quite frankly I think it's time to find another playlist service.

Tracey, that is exactly the kind of vague answer I was refering to in my first post. Is there nothing more specific you can tell us?

We are sharing the information we have at this time - the restrictions are do some new licensing agreements that recently went into affect.
Because these are legal agreements, any changes to them must be dealt with at a business level, and those types of negotiations just take time.
