All SONY BMG music now on Playlist… and an update on how we work with social networking sites.

Playlisters,
As we continue to enhance our service we want to use this blog to sustain an ongoing conversation with all of you, solicit your feedback and address any questions you might have. To start today, we have good news to share, and an update on news that is not quite so good.
At Playlist, we are creating an entirely new music experience for our users, and as such, we have been talking with artists, publishers and labels in an effort to work with them and make their full music catalogs available on Playlist.
So, GOOD NEWS: we are excited to tell you about a new agreement with Sony BMG! We are going to make Sony BMG’s entire catalog -- including popular artists like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Bow Wow and iCarly (see the press release) -- available to be part of your playlists. We want to provide the best music quality and experience that we can. We expect to have more updates for you soon.
With the improvements to our site last week, our new search tool means that it’s even easier and faster to find more of the music you love and build playlists while you listen. We’re adding new social features to help you find friends more easily and build friendships on our site. And with our new player, you can drag and drop songs to change your playlist or just hit shuffle to mix it up. You can also access any of your playlists directly from the player itself.
On another front, you may have noticed that some social networks have begun blocking your playlists from loading on their site. We are working hard to get our widgets back up on user profiles across these social networking sites as quickly as possible so our users can continue to share music with their friends. Until then, your playlists are not lost and you can still share them – they remain available here on Playlist.com, where you can continue to search for music, create and play new playlists.

On December 19, 2008, MySpace quickly began removing the Project Playlist music player from all profiles and subsequently leaving the affected users a message in their inbox which notified them of the removal and that Project Playlist was officially banned from MySpace for the time being, largely due to complaints brought forth by the artists. They stated that unlike MySpace or Imeem or others, Project Playlist did not pay royalties and was thus operating illegally. MySpace, however, assured users that as soon Project Playlist's "legal situation is settled, and the artists are getting paid, MySpace will consider re-enabling the embedding of Project Playlist music players."

An idea for the creators:
I know of an application on Facebook that allows someone to upload their I-Tunes/Windows Media Player library if they can't find favorite songs already in their database, which expands their song collection and makes people happier and song variety. Is it possible that Playlist can implement something of that sort, because there are songs that aren't at all obscure that you can't find and I think people would like being able to share their library without having to search a database for songs that might not have links.
Just a thought.
