The New Game is finally here! Mudvayne's newest album, and their first since 2005's wildly popular Lost and Found, finds the band at the top of their game.
Drummer Matt McDonough explains: "...on The New Game we’ve stripped away a lot of the extraneous stuff. Instead of making people try to figure out what we’re doing, we’re explaining it better with our music. By focusing and streamlining our sound, we’ve found the quickest way to explain what we’re trying to achieve as artists.”
And what they're trying to achieve seems like something far more meaningful than most of today's popular music. "The album is like a psychological profile of a lot of different characters," says Chad Gray, Mudvayne's frontman. "There is an overall vibe of chaotic helplessness, loss and fear, and that’s not something that I’ve experienced in putting a record together before."
The result is a dizzying ride through the crazed lives of Gray's imagined (and perhaps not-so-imagined) characters with the classic Mudvayne sound driving the point uncomfortably close to home. But don't take our word for it. Check out brand new tracks from The New Game in our playlist and drop us a note to tell us what you think.
