Paul Newman, , , Many people know Paul Newman to be a great actor. It wasn’t that way in 1954. His first movie was a disaster! He took out a full-page ad in a trade paper apologizing for it to anyone who might have seen it. He tried much harder in his next film, ‘Somebody Up There Likes Me’. In which he portrayed boxer Rocky Graziano, which drew, raves from the critics for his brilliant performance., Paul Newman was one of the most respected actors of his generation. He was even nominated for 10 Oscars, winning best actor in The Color of Money. He has stared in over 65 motion picture films. He was also in 60 theatrical motion pictures. Paul Newman has won 6 Golden Globes. Just a few movies he has starred in are; Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Long Hot Summer, Cold Hand Luke, and The Verdict., Paul Newman had a great life growing up. His dad owned a sporting goods store. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born January 26, 1925. Since his dad owned a sporting goods store, he was very good at sports. Paul also served in the Navy Air Corp during the last year of world war two. It may be hard to believe but in Paul’s early years, he often liked to play a rebel!, Paul Newman even had his own business! He made homemade; Salad dressing, pasta sauce, lemonade, ice cream, Steak sauces, and cookies. He didn’t use any sort of artificial ingredients at all. Just from his business he earned over a 150 million dollars. He used the money for good causes., Paul Newman was admired for many things. Some people admire him for his acting. Others for the great things he has done for kids. His business ‘Newman’s Own’ donated all nontax profits it made to over 1000 charities. There’s one special one though. It's called ‘Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’. It’s for children who have different sorts of cancer. It lets them go to it year round and do all sorts of activities. The camp was founded in 1988., As Paul Newman got older he starred in less movies. Sometime in 2008 he was dignsed with lung cancer. On September 28, 2008, he died. His wish a few weeks before he passed away, was that he wanted to die in his home, with his family. They granted that and soon he was off, and later that week he died. He lived til he was 83 years old. 1925-2008.
